Critical Michigan NAACP Call to Action Request – Let Children Go Back to Their Families!
We are calling on all Freedom Fighters to be in Grand Rapids, MI at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the First Park Congregational Church, 10 E Park Place NE, Grand Rapids, 45903, to protest against the inhumane separation of babies, toddlers, and teenagers from their parents.
The two largest sites in Michigan where children are being brought between 11 PM and 5 AM in the morning so no one can see them are both located in Grand Rapids; Bethany Christian Center and the Samaritas Center (the largest refugee settlement agency in the state and fourth largest in the nation). We pray to have your support and involvement with us as we gather together to say to the nation that these children must be re-united with their families immediately.
We urge you to support this Call to Action by sharing this information with your local membership and community activists and organizing your local community to come to Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Please contact the Detroit NAACP Branch office at (313) 871-2087 or email Rev. Anthony directly at: revwendellanthony@gmail.com if you have any questions. All people of all faith and traditions are welcomed to get on the bus and go to Grand Rapids. The bus from Detroit is on a first come, first serve basis, however we encourage all NAACP units to arrange transportation in order to have as many freedom fighters as possible come to Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
You can also reach out to the Grand Rapids Branch President, Cle Jackson, at (616) 633-8195 or email him at naacpgr naacpgr@gmail.com.
Although we know and are accustom to short notices such as this whenever this type of injustice arise, we know that we must remain forever vigilant. Look forward to seeing everyone in Grand Rapids, especially our Youth & College Division.
